One Thing Leads to Another, video installation with cement blocks, hose and spigot, and other elements, 22 min loop, 2015
Substitution, suggestion, reordering, progression. Small-scale video installation explores narrative associations and patterns through close observation of the natural world. Acts of incidental witnessing connect seemingly unrelated events; shifts in scale– the caterpillar and the horse– form a contiguity of fragments.
Featuring: a snake in the grass, birds riding horseback, the goose who race-walks, the caterpillar in the landscape-body and horse, racehorses on green tracks, the little dog racing the white fence. The big horse rolls in the grass; his portrait on the carousel goes round and round. Shifts in scale and perception: the parallax of toys and horses. The grass grows, the golf ball misses the hole, everything circulates, and one thing leads to another.
