Steady Star
“Steady Star” explores the chimerical power of longing, the stamina of dreams and fixations.
As a child, I collected plastic horses and pored over manuals of horse care. Absent a real horse, I was ready, if called, to muck out the Augean Stables. Hercules did a rush job, took shortcuts. I would have done it right, as ministration in service to a yearning. The monastic discipline and gallantry of little girls gets often overlooked.
A toy horse runs and never grows tired. A horse breathes and snores, deep in sleep. Longing becomes a dream; dreams persist. They must be tended.
